Flu Treatments
Diagnosis: The Flu

Based on the symptom chart, you have determined that you are suffering from the flu. Now what?

There are several antiviral medications that are available to treat the flu virus. Like COLD-EEZEŽ to treat a cold, these remedies can reduce the duration and severity of symptoms. However, since these medicines are available by prescription only, you must first visit your doctor to find out if they are right for you.

Prevention

Flu Shots
The best tool for preventing the flu is the flu vaccine and the best time to get a flu shot is early October to mid-November. The shot can also be given at any point during the flu season, even if the flu virus has already spread in your community. Contact your healthcare professional to see if a flu shot is appropriate for you.

Complications
The flu can be very serious, with 20,000 people dying annually as a result of the illness. Several populations are especially at risk, including patients at nursing homes and young children. The flu can also lead to pneumonia if the virus gets into your lungs while your body's defense system is weakened.See a doctor if you:
