Four Healthy Appetizers for Your Fourth of July Cookout

Healthy Appetizers for 4th of July banner

The sky is blue, the weather is warm, and most importantly, the drinks are chilled. Fourth of July is just around the corner, and this means it’s time to start preparing for your perfect cookout! So get that grill cleaned up and get ready to cook up a delicious meal.

This holiday is all about celebrating our country, enjoying the company, and eating like there’s no tomorrow (even though we know we might regret it the next day). So we thought about how to avoid that food coma with four healthy appetizers for the Fourth of July.

1. Corn on the cob can be healthy

It’s healthy, it’s delicious, and it’s fun. Is there really anything else we can ask for? Corn on the cob is the perfect appetizer for this holiday. Boil the corn, slap on some butter, sprinkle a bit of salt, spray some lime juice and you’re good to go. As a final touch, maybe add a bit of chili, if you so dare.

2. Guacamole and chips are a classic appetizer

Our love for avocados shall never cease to exist. Guacamole is easy to eat (and even easier to love). Chips and dip are an old-time favorite, yet never fail to amaze. Make some guacamole, add a bit of lemon juice and serve it up with some blue corn chips. It’s a definite crowd pleaser.

3. Fruit salad - healthy and perfect for cookouts

Cut up some watermelons and bananas and throw in a handful of blueberries. This fruit salad is the perfect reflection of the holiday colors. It’ll set the day’s theme in motion, and taste as heavenly as it looks. You really can’t go wrong with this one.

4. Chocolate-covered strawberries balances healthy with appetizing

Strawberries are healthy, and chocolate is tasty. This perfect combination is a burst of flavors just waiting for an adventurous palate. And here’s the best part: you can cover the strawberries in white chocolate, and drizzle some blue stripes for the occasion. Nothing makes this holiday more festive than some patriotic coloring.

Be creative with your spread, and be sure to enjoy the day with these deliciously healthy snacks!
