To continue our mission of finding ways to help you treat common cold symptoms and stay healthy, Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy launched a series of blog posts last month to share various alternative, or natural, cold remedies with simple ingredients that you can find around the house and that actually work. In last month’s kick-off blog-post, Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy discussed remedies for one of the cold virus‘ most annoying symptoms, the sore throat, and then we tackled coughing.

Peppermints And Tea

Now, in the third of the series, the team wants to share some remedies to treat those endless drips and sniffles during the common cold. Whether it’s a severe cold or just the beginning, no one wants to deal with the stubborn sniffles. Here are a few natural, easy ways to rid your runny nose!

Drinking Fluids:
• You may not believe or trust everything your mom tells you about how to treat a cold, but when she says, “You need to stay hydrated,” or “Make sure to drink plenty of fluids,” she’s absolutely right. Consuming plenty of water and juice helps in many ways, like thinning out mucus and speeding up recovery.

Chewing Ginger:
• While this might not sound like the most enticing method, chewing raw ginger actually soothes a runny nose fast. Take fresh ginger, peel it and squeeze it. You can also try chewing it with salt, just as long as you eat as much of the ginger as you can!

• Believe it or not, those little red and white swirled suckers are a natural treatment for a cold symptoms. The main ingredient in peppermint is menthol, which is a natural decongestant; it, like fluids, will thin the mucus stuck in your nose.

If you want to put forth your best effort and combine all three of these cold remedies, brew some peppermint and ginger tea! You will get the benefits of all of these remedies in one delicious cup, and hopefully get well faster!

If you find you still are not feeling your best, the very best solution is the one that will treat a cold by shortening the duration of your runny nose, and your cold, altogether! As soon as you feel yourself sniffling, make sure to begin taking Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy every 2-4 hours and gets lots of rest. Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy lozenges are clinically proven to shorten the duration of the common cold by almost half. All Cold-EEZE Cold Remedy products, including our lozenges, oral spray and our Daytime/Nighttime QuickMelts, release zinc ions in your mouth to shorten your cold. Some scientific studies suggest that the release of zinc ions – as found in Cold-EEZE products’ unique zinc gluconate formula – inhibits the cold virus’ ability to replicate, shortening the duration of the common cold.*
